Edinburgh Robotics Limited was founded in 2005 by Joe Halliwell and Nils Roeder, two former researchers who maintain their close relationship with the University of Edinburgh. Edinburgh Robotics built their development platform to integrate experiences from mobile robotics to help accelerating intelligent system and robotic application development.
For this technology Edinburgh Robotics was awarded a Scottish Executive SMART Award in 2005 which was supported by initial investment from Scottish Enterprise, Braveheart Ventures and Halifax Bank of Scotland in February 2006. A second investment was made in May 2007.
Edinburgh Robotics focuses on enabling innovative companies to accelerate their research, prototyping and development of new or updated intelligent products while reducing cost and time to market. The technology platform is being developed to provide an open and independent standard for developing and integrating intelligent solutions.
